Did you know research shows…
- The average professional car wash uses LESS water than many other businesses in a community.
- As an example a self serve car wash uses on the average 17-18 gallons of water per car.
- The full serve conveyor will use 30 – 40 gallons per car.
- An average shower uses 35-40 gallons of water and a top load washer, 35 gallons per load.
- Average professional car washes use LESS than .2% of the total municipal water supply.
- Residential water use will average 60-70% of which lawn watering is over 50%.

Company finds ways to clean cars without dirtying environment

Conserving water and car washes may not exactly be synonymous, but Bob Tesh of Tower Express Car Wash is working to help Cedar Park residents clean their rides without dirtying the environment.
Tower Express Car Wash uses phosphate-free, sustainable, biodegradable cleansers. The cleansers are concentrated as well, which means they can use less water and energy while getting the desired result of a sparkling clean car.
Tower Express Car Wash Director of Marketing Chris Bennett said the Blue Coral Beyond Clean products line they use is a sustainable product line that meets and exceeds Environmental Protection Agency regulations in all 50 states.
“Like any other sensible person, I love the Earth and I love my environment. We don’t want to pollute. Besides that, it makes good business sense to use eco-friendly products,” Tesh said.
He said he made sure Tower Express was state-of-the-art, both to ensure it was as efficient and environmentally responsible as possible, and to ensure his customers can get their cars washed and be back on the road as quickly as possible.
“Our customers are professional people,” Tesh said. “They want to get in and out.”
Tower Express Car Wash uses a water reclamation system to cut down on the amount of water they use. They use gray water — wastewater from bathing, laundry, dishwashing and other light uses — when possible so that they don’t waste potable drinking water.
Tesh said he did his due diligence before setting up Tower Express, and his enthusiasm is evident when he talks about his business, which opened earlier.
“We did a lot of research before I built this project,” Tesh said. “I traveled to several states to study different car washes and come up with the best and most efficient business model so we would be able to deliver a quality car wash at a very fair price and get our customers in and out.” He said the average car wash at Tower Express uses about 25 gallons of water. According to watereducation.org, it normally takes twice as much.
“Our concentrated Beyond Green product line and state of the art tunnel wash allows us to conserve water by using less,” Tesh said.
